Such a classification under the CLP regulation can be initiated by different parties. In this case the initiative came from Denmark and one of the reasons was the differences in self classification of geraniol, a substance manufactured and imported in the EU in over 1,000 tonnes per year.<br>Several decisions on the approval of active substances are delayed because of lack of harmonized classification. May produce an allergic reaction\u2019<\/p>\n<p>In this case, your product will not be considered as a sensitizer, so; \u201cGHS07\u201d, nor \u201cWarning\u201d, nor \u201cH317\u201c should be mentioned in Instructions For Use.<\/p>\n<p>However, EUH208\u2013 Contains geraniol. May produce an allergic reaction should be present on the label.<\/p>\n<h4>Concentration of geraniol in the mixture: Geraniol Content: X &gt;=1.0 %<\/h4>\n<p>This concentration limit is used to trigger classification of a mixture as a skin sensitiser.<\/p>\n<p>In this case your product, without contradictory data, will be considered as a sensitizer with symbol GHS07, \u201cWarning\u201d and <strong>Skin Sens. 1 H317<\/strong> : May cause an allergic skin reaction<\/p>\n<h4>Deadline<\/h4>\n<p>As this harmonized classification is less severe ,for Geraniol, compared to the current one, most companies will not wait adapting their labels, SDS\u2019s, &#8230; until the deadline (March 1th, 2022). You can immediately process to the modifications.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>*Attention: if the product contains other ingredients also classified as skin sensitizers, the concentrations have to be added up! For more details, have a look into \u201cGuidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria Guidance to Regulation (EC) No 1272\/2008 on classification, labelling and packaging (CLP) of substances and mixtures.
